reflections
Reflections are awesome, but your brain is always trying to ignore them. If you just try to notice them, they will suddenly appear everywhere you look. I was sitting at my window. I sat down because there was an ambulance standing on my street with its warning lights blinking on the dim road. I noticed the rhythm of the blinking lights, but then I saw a reflection of them in the silver metallic finish of the car parked right next to the ambulance.
This was not a simple reflection because the light hit a fender in such a way that you could see multiple versions of the same light. Then I zoomed out with my eyes a bit and also noticed the yellow light in the persistent water droplets on my window. The light interacted differently with the fogging; it spread out more. I wanted to examine the reflection on the car again, but my attention was different now, so I saw my own reflection in the window which was in the same line of sight as the car, but I only noticed it now, although I had been sitting there for almost 10 minutes. My whole room stretched itself over the whole viewport. I looked more into the reflection; I saw there were layers to it. I have a double-pane window, so it acts, given there is dim light, like an infinite mirror cabinet, which is amazing. Under perfect conditions, you could see many iterations of yourself inside the reflection. In this mirror, due to the dim light, I could only see 2 and a half because the light faded out exponentially. There is also another angle from which you can see the mirror hanging in my room, revealing an additional dimension to this.
Try to see them, and when you do, you will find even more.
It is not about whether you see them or not but about what you focus on. You will always shift your focus to what you deem important in the moment.
I, for example, reflect all the time. Although I just realised that if you are just reflecting and not focusing on your reflections, you will only have one very plain layer of consciousness. You will only get the full picture if you try shifting through layers and changing your attention. Categorising not only the things you think are important but also everything else there is, which you might have left out before. You don't need to do this all the time. But sometimes it can really clear your mind. Light is bouncing around everywhere, and so are your thoughts.
